Our Mission

The mission of the Horry County Veterans Affairs Office is to provide education and assistance on the multitude of programs and benefits sponsored by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The education is made available to the general public but is predominantly for Veterans, surviving spouses, dependents and beneficiaries that we serve. We provide our clients assistance with claim filing for benefits they are eligible for, advice and representation on the VA appeal system and assistance with enrollment in the VA medical system.

Our Vision

Within the next five years the Horry County Veterans Affairs Office will become a model for all County Veterans Affairs Offices in the state of South Carolina. We will engage in a culture of excellence by providing Veterans and survivors with accurate information on VA benefits and programs; treat all clients with dignity and respect; respond timely to all communication; provide innovative computer service for Veterans to electronically enroll in VA programs and continually increase our knowledge on the multitude of VA benefits.

Our Values

As a department in Horry County government, we value honesty, respect, service to country, patriotism, sacrifice and personal excellence. We acknowledge, respect and honor all Veterans for their service to America no matter how, when or where they served. We proudly pledge ourselves to creating and maintaining a customer service environment for Veterans and their survivors. We hold ourselves accountable to our customers, partners and each other. We have a passion for Veterans and firmly believe that excellence is not a goal, it is the standard.
